Begin your day being chauffeur driven in luxury along the hills that lead towards the medieval town of Montalcino. Located to the south of Siena, with its boundary walls studded by towers and the imposing 14th century fortress, Montalcino offers one of the most beautiful views over the Val d'Orcia. This wonderful town is the home of the legendary Brunello di Montalcino DOCG red wine. Whilst in Montalcino explore the town's delightful century-old fortress and enjoy a leisurely stroll through the picturesque narrow streets, taking the opportunity to browse the numerous delicatessens, wineries and inviting shops selling local artisan produce for you to taste before departing with your driver towards the next point of call, Pienza (journey time approx. 30 minutes). |
Pienza, once a sleepy medieval village during the 15th Century, was transformed by Pope Pius II into the ideal Renaissance city and nowadays its claim to fame is twofold. Not only a Unesco World Heritage Site but also famous for the production of exquisite Pecorino cheese (made from sheep's milk). Pienza offers visitors breathtaking views over the valleys below, wonderful churches and beautiful intricate and narrow streets to wander along. You cannot help but be captivated by the wondrous aromas from the many shops selling local bread, oil, wine and cheeses, and you will find the vendors more than welcome to offer you free samplings of their produce. You really will be spoilt for choice! |

A 20 minute drive along some of the Val D'Orcia's most scenic routes (perfectly rolling hills lined with century old cypress trees, scenes you will find on all of the major postcards!) will take you to the magnificent medieval town of Montepulciano, perched on a hill 600 metres above sea level and enclosed by fortified walls. Internationally renowned for its Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, this beautiful town offers superb views of the surrounding countryside and thrills visitors with the delights of its magnificent renaissance buildings and overall elegant beauty. Spend some time exploring this magnificent town and spot the locations where many scenes from the "Twilight" saga were filmed. |
