Visit Pisa, home to Italy's Leaning Tower, then head on towards the beautiful coastline along Versilia before arriving in the beautiful medieval city of Lucca.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most impressive
architectural structures from medieval Europe. It is located in
Pisa, one of the most visited European cities.
It was a great Italian poet, Gabriele D’Annunzio, who renamed the
Cathedral square of Pisa ‘Field of Miracles’ for the real miracle of
beauty of its monuments: the Leaning Tower, the Cathedral, the
Baptistery and the Monumental Cemetery.
In the area of northern Tuscany, called Versilia, there is
a line of beaches extending from the Bocca di Magra
almost to the Arno that Italians flock to in Summer.
These Tuscan beaches are characterized by interesting
villages, and a background of the Apuan Alps, known for
its famous marble production.
Afterwards, you will head to Lucca which is set inside a ring of well
preserved Renaissance walls. The wall is wide enough to hold small
parks and a path along the top. You will be free to take pleasant
walk along a section of these walls, where you will enjoy a beautiful
view of the city’s roofs, alleys, house-towers, churches and
marvelous noble palazzos. Then you can move to the old town
centre to see Piazza Anfiteatro and the typical Street of Antiques shops.
